In Their Shoes

Welcome to In Their Shoes team page!! Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk is on June 2nd at 8:30 am. We walk for our Team Honoree - my daughter Anna!

We named our team “In Their Shoes” because many times people don’t take a moment to try to understand what it is like to care for someone, or to live life with a disability. And not that this will change the way you live, but it might change the way you see people with disabilities if you come out with us a Walk a Mile In Their Shoes, so to speak.

I have been on the Board of Directors for the DSAGSL for over 11+ years and have been involved since Anna was 9 months old – so almost 23 years!!!! They were a comforting warm blanket during what could have been a cold and lonely experience trying to navigate our way through understanding our diagnosis.

We participate so they can continue to support families and help them navigate the waters, but they do so much more than just family support. Just a FEW are: Individual support, public awareness and acceptance, advocacy, the Employment Initiative, education for both individuals with Down syndrome as well as the teachers who teach them. Feel free to dig around on the website and check out this incredible organization and community that I’m so proud to be apart of.

Show Anna some love and donate what you can.
Equally as important, PLEASE JOIN US if you can for a great day at the Forest Park!
WE WANT A HUGE SHOWING FOR OUR TEAM!!! (Minimum $25/person donation to participate in the day… you can raise it or donate it )

Thank you for Stepping Up!

Your support is making a difference for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in our St. Louis Community!
