Harper's Homies

Hi Everyone,

Harper's Homies are back at it again, raising awareness and fundraising for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis. I am excited to invite you to Step Up for Down Syndrome 2020!!

This annual event is the 3rd one for us, and it that takes place in Forest Park, upper Munie Parking lot, on June 7th 2020, at 8:30am. Please join us the for 1 mile awareness walk & donate to help support Harper's Team!

Here is a little bit about our journey:

We were 14 wks pregnant when we were told that our little girl would have Trisomy 21.  I remember saying "what is that?" and panicing saying "tell me what to do, I don't know what to do.. what do I do?" I was in complete shock and disbelief.  We had so many emotions, so many unanswered questions and fears.

As parents you want the best for your child, you have an image in your head of how your family will look, you dream about sports, and sleep overs, proms and wedding days.  I was afraid that none of those things were going to happen now, that my little girl wouldn't get to do any of those things.

Looking back at those emotional months made me realize that I was looking at it all wrong, and that she can and will do all of those things and we will be there to support and love her through it all.

Harper is 2 in a half years old now, and AMAZING. Her older sister is her best friend. She is walking, (almost running), learning new things everyday, talking, signing and in a Mommy and Me Gymnastics class that we both absolutely love. She loves to summersault, play with her sister and give loves to our yellow lab Duke.  Our Harper has the best smile, an infectious laugh and gives hugs that will warm the coldest heart.

When I think back to those scary first few months, I think "how could I ever be afraid to be this wonderful little girls mother."  We are extremely grateful for Harper and wouldn't change her for the world!

I hope you can support Harper's team with a donation and walk with us!! Just register by clicking JOIN TEAM. If don't want to walk, but are able to make a donation, you can click on DONATE NOW, or mail a check to our house, (8530 Nike Rd Red Bud Il 62278).

 Thank you for Stepping Up!
