The Teddy Bears
Meredith and I welcomed our son Theodore into the world on 4/30 at 11:39 PM. Early on in pregnancy, we learned that Teddy would be born with Down syndrome. Knowing his diagnosis ahead of his arrival allowed us to educate ourselves, and start to make connections in the DS community.
The Down Syndrome Association of Greater St Louis (DSAGSL) has been an incredible resource to us as new parents. DSAGSL is a community of people with DS and their loved ones, committed to helping people with DS live their fullest lives. Even in this strange time of social distancing, DSAGSL has made us feel welcomed and accepted as new parents, and made sure all of Teddy's future friends know he has arrived.
Each year, DSAGSL holds their Step Up for Down Syndrome event the first weekend in June. Step Up is our area's largest celebration of Down syndrome, and the largest fundraiser for DSAGSL. This year while we cannot all come together in person, the event will be held remotely.
In honor of our adorable Teddy, I have started a fundraising team. If you are able, please consider giving a donation in support of this life-changing organization. Donations can be made through our team page here: http://support.dsagsl.org/goto/teddybear
If you prefer, you can also send a gift check made out to DSAGSL, with "Step up - Teddy Johnson" written on the memo line to:
8531 Page Ave, Suite 120
St. Louis, MO 63114
All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you all so much for helping us welcome Teddy! We are truly blessed to have such a strong and supportive network of family and friends. With the love from all of us, and the Teddy is prepared to grow and thrive!
The mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis is to benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families through individual and family support, education, public awareness and advocacy.
